A major part of my creative life is currently focused on family and raising our son Elan. Motherhood has enabled me to focus my activities and the creative rewards have given me a new perspective on day to day tasks and the important influence that they play on my music. Currently I am working on recording tunes that use vocals. The main theme is love, between bugs and flowers and sometimes even between people. The lyrics are based on crazy mind pictures and what ever the chordal harmonies seem to attract (and sometimes the other way around...). I will be posting suitable scratch tracks on the 'projects' section for fun!

A piece for big band got under way while spending a year in Boston (and pregnant), that I hope to finish before our son heads off to college.

The Kafka Pony keeps me employed, (self-employed) and every day is a new and bright challenge in fitting in a bit of time at the 'office'.

Background
My interest in creating compositions started early in high school. Over the years it has been the central part of my musical growth. In Boston I formed and composed for Kafka Pony, a guitar trio with flute. We performed at various venues around town. At Berklee I was involved in The Creative Workshop, a guitar ensemble led by Jon Damian. A group of about 5 or 6 guitarists with a broad range of skills and ambitions made up each semester's ensemble. The Workshop was a great platform for trying out various ideas that would later shape my compositional outlook. It instilled a very basic need to create with sound, words and theatrical elements. Berklee also offered great teachers and resources for study and practice of orchestration and composition. The 'project' bands where a great resource for hearing one's writing, which is the most potent source of learning.

While living in Brisbane I continued my activities and studies in composition. Somewhere along the line I had become deeply interested in the master composers like Mahler and the like. Brisbane offered me an environment for learning and collaboration. I also found an interest in electro-acoustic music and studied various aspects of it with Rodolphe Blois.

While in Brisbane I composed for films for graduating students at the Queensland University of Technology. I also collaborated on theatre pieces both for graduating students and department productions.
